  • Application Steps

    1. Fill out the required contact information and select your desired program date on the form below.
    2. Submit your Alberta high school transcripts via myPass OR submit your Canadian out-of-province transcript documentation OR register for an upcoming AIT Trade Entrance Exam OR submit your AIT Entrance Exam results.  
    3. Read the Student Declaration and Privacy Notice.
    4. Submit your completed program application.
    5. Wait for your admission decision. You will be contacted via email.

  • Admission Requirements for CCDC’s Pre-Employment Welding Program

    • English 10-2 and Math 10-3 or
    • A pass mark in all five Canadian General Educational Development (GED) or
    • Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) tests.

    Students who attended high school outside of Canada or who do not meet the entrance requirements listed above have the option of taking the AIT Trade Entrance Exam to be granted admission.

  • Level of English Required for Program Success

    • Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) – Level 7 or
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE) – minimum overall score of 51.6 and
      • Minimum scores in the following categories:
        • Reading – 53.5
        • Listening – 48.1
        • Writing – 62.2
        • Speaking – 46.2
    • Duolingo English Test – Overall score of 105-115

    1. Click on the myPass How-To-Document below for detailed instructions on submitting your transcripts.
    2. Click on the “Open myPass” button below to be redirected to the myPass login page.
    3. Once you have received a confirmation from MyPass that you have successfully submitted your transcripts, please close the MyPass web page and continue your application.

    Instructions for Registering for an AIT Entrance Exam

    1. Visit the Tradesecrets apply online page

    2. Log in

    If you don't have one yet, create a basic Alberta.ca account (alberta.ca). Accept the terms and set up your profile. Already have an account? Just log in with your username and password.

    3. Verify your identity (first-time applicants only)

    We’ll ask a few questions to confirm your identity and request your Alberta Student Number (ASN).

    Be ready - you can look up or request your ASN here.

    4. Choose your application

    Select the green button to apply for another service.

    Select your trade and your specific program or service.

    • Welder or Carpenter (depending on application)
    • Prior Learning Assessments (PLA) - PLA - Entrance Examination

    5. Fill out the application

    Follow the on-screen instructions to complete all required fields. You may need to provide:

    • Contact information
    • Social insurance number
    • Education history
    • Employment information
    • Work history

    6. Submit your application

    7. Once AIT has reviewed your application and deemed you eligible to write the exam, you will receive an email with booking instructions, and a notification will be displayed on your MyTradeSecrets home page.
